We deliberately collect as little personal data as possible:

• Calculator inputs: figures you enter (salary, deposit, price, etc.) stay in your browser and are not sent to our servers unless you explicitly ask the AI to explain them.
• AI assistant messages: when you chat with Sterling or click "Explain with AI", we send your message and the relevant figures to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate a response.
• Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address and the date you subscribed.
• Contact form: we store the name, email, subject and message you submit.
• Anonymous usage analytics: aggregated counts of which tools are viewed and how often AI is used, with no personal identifiers.
• Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser user agent) for security and abuse prevention, retained for a short period.

• Consent — for the newsletter and for AI requests you initiate.
• Legitimate interests — for security logs, anonymous analytics and improving the site.
• Contract / pre-contract — to respond to contact form enquiries.

• To send the newsletter you signed up for and a one-off welcome email.
• To respond to your contact form messages.
• To provide the AI assistant feature you've requested.
• To measure aggregate usage so we can improve our tools.
• To protect the service from abuse, spam and fraud.

We use a minimal set of cookies and local storage entries:

• Functional — your dark/light theme preference and any saved calculations.
• Authentication — only if you log in to the admin panel.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever add advertising (for example, Google AdSense), this policy will be updated and a cookie banner will appear.

We share data only with carefully chosen processors:

• Google (Gemini API) — to power Sterling, our AI assistant. Your AI prompts are sent to Google to generate a response.
• Resend — to deliver newsletter, welcome and contact-form emails.
• MongoDB — securely stores newsletter and contact entries on our infrastructure.

We never sell your personal data.

Some of our processors (such as Google and Resend) may store data outside the UK / EEA. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe.
• Contact form messages: up to 24 months from the last contact.
• Server logs and anonymous analytics: typically 30–90 days.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request that we correct or delete your data.
• Object to or restrict processing.
• Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter) at any time.
• Request your data in a portable format.
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
